Sector overview
Logistics has been the fastest-adopting sector for automation over the past decade. The e-commerce boom — representing 18 % of retail sales in Spain and growing at 25 % annually in Latin America — has transformed warehouses: from conventional racking stores to multi-story mega-hubs with high-speed sorters (2.0–2.5 m/s), robotic picking systems and accumulation carousels operating 365 days a year without interruption.
This continuous-operation pressure translates into very specific belt requirements: low elongation for precise tracking on systems over 100 metres long, certified antistatic properties to protect electronics and barcode scanning, and dimensional tolerances measured in tenths of a millimetre so that sorters run at rated speed without product misalignment rejects.
Simultaneously, airport infrastructure modernisation across Ibero-America — Barajas, El Prat, Santiago, Lima, Buenos Aires — is replacing first-generation Baggage Handling Systems (BHS). New installations demand belts with combined antistatic and flame-retardant certification (ASF), controlled acoustic levels for passenger environments and resistance to variable baggage weight without progressive deformation.
The technical difference between a fulfilment warehouse belt and an airport belt is radical. NFP Industrial identifies two sub-sectors with specific PVC belt catalogues for logistics from Kunming Conveyor Belt Co., Ltd. (KMB):
Applications and sub-sectors covered
Warehouses and logistics centres
High-speed sorters, accumulation spirals and vision-based classification systems require low-elongation belts (SOLID/PVK) with certified antistatic properties. High-frequency welded lateral guides and cleats allow curved and inclined sections to be configured within the same circuit.
Airports
Check-in, security and baggage reclaim BHS require AEM models with certified antistatic and flame-retardant (ASF) properties. Low acoustic profile is a contractual requirement in many airport tenders. Supergrip (SG) surface profiles manage baggage sliding on inclined sections in the sorting zone.
Why NFP Industrial for logistics
Our warehouses in Valencia and Elx enable fast response for logistics facility maintenance teams in Spain: cut to length, mechanical splicing and delivery within 24-48 hours. For new-build or major retrofit projects in Latin America, we coordinate direct shipment from the KMB plant with manufacturing lead times documented before contract.
Every quotation includes a length calculation, model selection with technical justification and a splicing data sheet for the belt joining press. We do not sell metres of belt: we design the complete solution so that predictive maintenance is achievable from day one.
